Time getting away
I work at a fabric shop part time. We are closing our store so I have been working a lot instead of sewing. I have several outfits in the works and hope to finish and post soon. Time is getting away from me. I have had a lot of people ask me lately why do I make childrens clothes. You can buy them so cheap it's not worth the time. You have to compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Yes you can go to Target and Walmart and buy clothes cheaper than you can make. But I like to make things that are boutique quality and style. My grandkids like to look special not like everyone else. My daughter and grandkids like getting stopped and have people ask where do you get their clothes. The kids love the attention. Kids grow up so fast. When they have a special day at school or a party, a special outfit is something they will remember. Everyday is special to them. So I try to make a lot of special clothes.

Using up some scraps
At times I will start going through my fabric and try to use up some random pieces in my stash. I really love how fun this set turned out and I received a big thumbs up from Sophie on it. The top had some shirring in the back w/ the applique on the front. Lots of little details in there but was fun to make!

Thanks
I want to thank Peachy from Peachy Sews for nominating my blog. Sewing has been my passion since I was a kid. Since I became a widow I have really turned to my sewing. I am the mom of 8 kids and 26 Grandkids and 26 greats. I currently have my dream job. I drove a school bus for 20 years. After retiring I started working part time at a local fabric store. I eventually moved to the sewing machine department selling and demoing machines. The store I work at will be closing in 6 weeks. They have 2 other fabric stores. I have decided to really retire this time. I will now sew full time. I have to sew up my hugh stash of fabric. I have several machines. I have a Babylock Ellegante,Babylock Ellure serger, Babylock Embellisher, Bernina Babylock Ellageo, Babylock Quilters Choice Pro & frame. and a Brother Ultra and a old treadle. I also have a wonderful sewing room a friend did for me,
I will nominate the following blogs.

Wiggles
Sammy and Sophie were huge Wiggles fans and had to have the overalls for the big concert. Here is Sophie showing off one of my favorite all time overalls :) Even Greg and Jeff told her how much they loved them. She was quite the hit!! We also made her bows w/ bones for Wags. I will have to dig out Sammy's Wiggles outfit.
Another Sammy outfit
Sammy is the older brother to Sophie and Lucy. He used to model and wear some of the outfits when he was younger. Now I am gearing up to make him some cool swim trunks and other fun "boy" stuff. Here he is wearing a chick magnet outfit. He was so stinking cute in this outfit!! This is another oldie but a goodie of the little guy.
Back in the vault!!

Wonderful Book
I just received a book I ordered. It is Sewing Clothes Kids Love, by Nancy Langdon of Fledge* Studio Tantrum & Sabine Pollehn of Farbenmix. I got it from Amazon for $ 16.00 It is worth every penny. Lots of great tips, patterns and great pictures, I highly recommend it for anyone that sews for kids, boys and girls. These are two very talented ladies, I love to make clothes that are different. I like to get creative and have fun making things. The European look is so much fun.

Pink and Brown Polka Dots
I just finished a new outfit from Ottobre. It is the skirt with flounces. It was in 1-07 #15. I have made this several times. everyone really likes it. I had some pink with brown dots that I really liked. I was lucky to find brown with pink dots. I could not find any brown knit for a tee shirt, so I went on a hunt. I know I could have ordered some but did not want to wait.I looked at several stores for brown tee's but could not find one. I finally found some at Old Navy. I was totally shocked at how bad their quality had become. When I sold on Ebay we used them a lot. They were not the best but a lot better than now. But they were brown. I am going to make 2 more for other grandkids. I prefer my live models but they are a hour away and didn't want to make the drive.

More Spring outfits
Tropical Isle
Hilda Tilda
Here is the last winter outfit for this year. It is the Ottobre Hilda Tilda from6/2007. A very easy and fast outfit to make. My granddaughters really like to wear it. I found the orange knit in my stash and was lucky enough to find a purple to match. If you have never tried this pattern please do. It will become a favorite. I made it with the hood. There is also a flower on the back at the hem. I have made several vertions of this outfit.
Chez Ami fabrics
I recieved my Chez Ami fabric yesterday. I got 2 pieces of twill and the rest knits. I am busy trying to decide what to make with them. I want to do something nautical with the navy and white. I guess I better start looking at all my patterns and see what hits me. It is so exciting when I get new fabric.

Trying to get inspired.
I have been busy looking through boutique catalogs, pattern magazines, looking at ebay and etsy, lots of blogs. I am trying to get inspired for spring outfits. I love looking at Chasing fireflies and Wooden Solder catalogs. They have some very different ideas. Ottobre Designs, Farbenmix, Sue & Blue and Bizz Kids have some great patterns. I like to take a pattern and see how I can change it around. I guess I like to be different and not wear what everyone else does. I am a boutique clothing nut. When I travel I look for all the boutiques I can find. Adult and children, I don't care. You never know where you will find a great idea. I also look at movies for great clothes. Old movies have wonderful ideas. I am also trying to use some of the fabrics in my stash. I hope to have a new outfit up tomorrow. I better get back to the sewing machine.
