Scarves

I have gotten carried away making tee shirt scarves. They are so fast and easy. I went to the local thrift store and bougt several tee shirts in lots of colors. You do not even need a sewing machine to make them. You need a cotton tee shirt without seams. The larger the size the bigger the scarf. You cut off the bottom hem and discard. Cut the shirt in strips. You can cut from 1/2 in on up/ I have been using about 1 1/2 in. Start stretching as hard as you can. It will curn up into a cord. Take a scape and tie them all together. That's it. Hope you enjoy making them.

The last of the cruise

Well the ship left the port today. I am sure they will have a wonderful time. This is Sophie's last dress. It is basically off the same pattern. It fits her so well I used it several times. I think the flower helps set it off. Flowers are so fast and easy but do wonders.

More cruising

Here is another one of the dresses I have made for Miss Sophie. The cruise is next week so not much time left. I am sure everyone will have a very good time. But on a cruise a lot of it is about dressing up so the kids should be set. It is good for the kids to learn how to behave in public.

Cruise Time

My daughter and her family are going on a cruise. The girls summer dresses are starting to show a little wear. So it is time for some new dresses for this special occasion. The new dresses will work fine for the cruise and I hope will work for the fall with a tee shirt under the dress. I think the dresses turned out cute.

Back to School

I finally got Sophie's outfit done with time to spare. I think the skirt turned out really cute. I used the print tulle for the ruffles. There are red knit shorts under the skirt. I also made a matching headband. I just blinged up a tee shirt to wear with it. It does look a lot cuter on. I am so glad I have the back to school dresses done for tomorrow. I went looking in the tweens favorite store for ideas. I have now bought fabric for more outfits. I finally am getting back in the sewing mode.

Going Buggie

School starts on Monday for the grand kids, so I have been sewing like mad. I thought this bug fabric was cute and fun. Not the usual girly dress. It is so bright and cheerful. I really like the bug crawling up the hem. I was so lucky to find rick-rack to match the colors in the stripes. The bow in the back adds just the right touch. I just hope Lucy likes it. Now off to finish up Sophie's outfit.

A Sassy Purse

I just finished the Petunia purse by Izzy & Ivy. It is a little larger than I thought it would be but I really like it. It started out with the polka dot fabric. The ASG chapter I belong to gave us each a yard of fabric. We could make anythin we wished. We could add other fsbrics but could not use more of the polka dot. I think it turned out really cute.

Cinderella's Ball

The girls went to a tea party and a play about Cinderella and her Prince last night. So naturally they needed dresses and of course Hats. After watching THE WEDDING last week only Fasinators would do. This was kind of a fast job to get done. I did the dresses and my daughter Tracy did the hats. They turned out really well. I can see us making more of them. The girls loved them and had a really great time. I think wearing hats is lots of fun. Sophie especially loves wearing them. She also has 2 Fedoras.I am glad the girls had a wonderful time.

Tink

I am making just some simple summer dresses. I thought Tinkerbell would look good on the dress. I think orchid and green look nice together. These dresses can be made and embroidered in less than a hour.

Spring is here

I made this spring dress for a friends daughter. I think it looks so sweet and springy. I love all the cute little animals around the skirt, It is so cute and I think it will go all summer long. Of course a tee shirt can always be worn under it. Although you cannot see the big bow on the back I think it really helps set it off. I love little sun dresses on a hot summer day. Of course they are cute anytime.

Lady Bug, Lady Bug fly away home.

I love lady bugs on clothes. They are so springy. I found some blue ticking in my stash of fabric. I just knew right away to put on it. Pillow slip dresses are so fast and easy. I love to applique on them. I think a little hand stitching always helps to perk them up. I found the red with black polka dots ribbon that I thought would be perfect with the dress. I also made 2 bows to match. I really like the red Capri's with the dress. With pants the girls can play in them and not have to worry about things showing. I know Lucy will be so cute in the outfit this spring.

Dr. Suess's Birthday

March 2nd is Dr. Suess's birthday. At my darling grand kids school it is a big day. They sell Cat in the Hat hats and have a big party. Naturally Lucy need a new outfit for the occasion. I was so luck to find Dr. Suess fabric that just came out. She is really excited to have a outfit for the day. Sophie's still fits from last year. Poor baby is upset. She has to wear a outfit twice. I think I have created a little monster here. I think the fabric is really cute.

Fun & Funky

Now that Sophie is getting older she wants her clothes to be more fun and funky. I made her some decoupage jeans. I used some scraps of fabric and embroidered some peace sign in metallic thread on them. The shirt is embroiderd with peace signs, flowers and love. I added some bling to both the jeans and tee shirt. Shopie love decoupage jeans. They are so simple and can cover holes or even lengthen them.

100 and counting

Well the hundreth day of school arrived. I needed to do a outfit for Lucy as this is a big event in kindergarten. Sophie had a skirt with a 100 polka dots. I had to do something a little differant this year. I decided to go with a 100 buttons. I did a red twirly skirt and sew on 75 buttons. The other 25 went on a white tee shirt. All I had available in a tee shirt to fit Lucy was a short sleeve. With the extreme cold here I knew that would not do. I had some red knit left from some red tights I had made. It was perfect to add on to the sleeves. I tied the buttons on with embroidery floss and left little tails. I think it turned out cute. Lucy was very happy with it.

101 day of school

Well today was the 101 day of school. The only thing that comes to mind is the 101 Dalmations. I could not find dalmation fabric so I went with black and white fabrics. Lucy looks cute in twirly skirts. I wanted to do a differant applique than I used last year for Sophie, so this is the only other one I had. I used black buttons to add a little other interest to the t-shirt. The girls really love their 101 outfits.

Christmas Elegence

Every Christmas the girls Aunt takes them to the party at her country club. It is a very dress up affair. I think all kids should have a opportunity to get dressed up and use their best manners. I saw a outfit in Chasing Fireflies catalog that I loved. I made my version of the outfits that sold for very big bucks. The pants were gaucho's made in Brocade. In the pictures they look more gold. They actually were a very light avocado green. The dress over the pants was a silk Shantung in a darker avocado green. It had a sash that tied in a bow in the back. There were gold buttons on the front. The dresses can be worn without the pants. They really look better in person. They were very elegant. The girls enjoyed all the compliments. They really did look special.

Black and Whites

I am getting in the mood for spring clothes. My new Chasing Fireflies catalog has arrived and really put me in the mood. I made Miss Lucy a Claire Marie topcoat by Izzy & Ivy. It is so fast and easy. I used a black and white print accented in solid black. It is lined in white with black polka dots. I am very happy how it turned out. I used the pattern with the hood. You can do it without the hood and do it in one fabric. I am sure I will be using this pattern again. I hope you like it as much as do.
